Insulation and energy
What each insulation and energy service involves, from the attic floor to the roof array, and what to expect from a certified company.
Insulation and air sealing decide how well a house holds heat in winter and keeps it out in summer. The pages below describe each service: what it is, how an installer approaches it, and what separates a careful job from one that leaves gaps, compressed batts or blocked vents.
After a loss, insulation is often part of the rebuild: wet insulation is removed when walls and ceilings are opened to dry, and smoke or soot can leave attic insulation unusable. A certified company replaces it to the current code before the drywall goes back.
