What this covers
A home theater is a room planned around a screen, speakers and seating. The company lays out the screen size, viewing distance and seat rows, builds a riser so the back row can see, and prewires for the projector or display, speakers and controls before the walls close. Sound isolation comes from building methods such as decoupled framing, resilient channel, extra layers of drywall and sealed doors, while acoustic panels inside the room control echo. Lighting is put on dimmers, often with step lights, and the room is ventilated quietly. Electrical work is done by a licensed electrician.

Questions people ask
What is the difference between soundproofing and acoustic panels?
Soundproofing keeps sound from leaving the room, through the way walls and ceilings are built. Acoustic panels control echo inside the room. A theater usually needs both.
Why prewire before drywall?
Speaker, display and control wiring is much easier to run and hide in open framing. Conduit can also be added so wiring can be changed later.
Does a theater need its own ventilation?
A closed room with equipment and people warms up quickly. Quiet supply and return air keeps it comfortable without adding noise.
