What this covers
A ramp replaces or bypasses the steps at an entry. The slope, landings and handrails follow accessibility guidelines so the ramp is usable by a wheelchair, a walker and a caregiver. It can be built in wood, poured in concrete, or assembled from modular aluminum that can be moved later. The company measures the rise, plans the route, and builds it with nonslip surfaces and lighting.

Questions people ask
How long does a ramp need to be?
Guidelines call for one foot of ramp per inch of rise, with level landings at the ends and at turns. A two-step entry can need a ramp longer than people expect, which is why the route is planned first.
Temporary or permanent?
Modular aluminum ramps install quickly and can be removed or resold. Wood and concrete are permanent and can be designed to suit the house.
Can the ramp go at the back?
Yes. The entry with the least rise and the shortest route to the driveway is often the best choice.
