Cabinet doors laid flat on drying racks, freshly sprayed sage green, and a painter in a respirator inspecting one under a work light

Cabinet painting

A factory-smooth finish on your existing cabinets, doors sprayed off the boxes.

What this covers

Cabinet painting gives a kitchen or bath a new look without replacing the cabinets. Doors and drawer fronts are removed and labeled, every surface is degreased and sanded, a bonding primer is applied, and the finish is sprayed in a dust-free space with the boxes masked in place. The doors are reinstalled and adjusted, with new hardware if you choose it. Crews wear respirators while spraying.

When to call

  • Solid cabinets in a dated color or a worn finish.
  • A kitchen refresh that does not need a new layout.
  • Smoke residue on cabinets that have been cleaned and now need refinishing.

What to expect

  1. Remove and labelDoors, drawers and hardware come off and are numbered so they return to the same place.
  2. Clean and sandGrease and residue are removed, surfaces sanded and any damage filled.
  3. Prime and sprayA bonding primer, then finish coats sprayed on doors off-site and on boxes in a masked kitchen.
  4. ReassembleDoors are rehung, hinges adjusted, hardware installed, and you check every door and drawer.

Questions people ask

Can laminate or thermofoil cabinets be painted?

Some can, with the right primer, and some cannot. The company tests a door first and tells you.

How long is the kitchen out of use?

The boxes are usable with doors off once the spraying in the kitchen is done. The doors come back after curing at the company's shop.

Will it look sprayed or brushed?

Sprayed, with no brush marks. The quality of the sanding and priming underneath is what the finish shows.
