What this covers
Rodent exclusion means closing the ways in, rather than only trapping what is inside. The technician walks the exterior and the attic, crawlspace and garage, looking for gaps around pipes, wires and vents, under doors, at the roofline and where siding meets the foundation; a mouse fits through an opening the size of a dime. Openings are packed with stainless or copper mesh and sealed, vents get galvanized screens or covers, and door sweeps and garage seals are fitted. Careful work also traps out the rodents already inside and returns to check that activity has stopped.

Questions people ask
Why not just set traps?
Traps remove the rodents that are inside, but new ones keep arriving through the same gaps. Exclusion closes the openings so the problem does not keep coming back.
Why metal mesh instead of foam?
Rodents chew through foam, caulk and wood. Stainless or copper mesh packed into the gap and sealed over resists chewing and does not rust out quickly.
What about the droppings in the attic?
Droppings and nesting material can carry disease and odor. Heavy contamination is cleaned up by a crew with respirators and protective gear, and soiled insulation is usually replaced.
